How to put an AI-built app on your own domain
Point your own domain or subdomain at an AI-built app: add one DNS record, wait for the certificate and check that HTTPS works.
Debraj
A link like tools.yourcompany.com looks more trustworthy than a random address, and it takes one DNS record.
What you need
- A domain you control, and access to its DNS settings.
- A subdomain in mind, such as tools.example.com.
- About ten minutes, plus time for DNS to update.
Steps
- Add the domain to your app in Cohostly.
- Copy the DNS record it shows (usually a CNAME) into your DNS provider.
- Wait for the record to be seen; a low TTL speeds this up.
- Cohostly issues the HTTPS certificate once the record is found.
If it does not work
- Check the record name has no typo and no extra domain at the end.
- Remove any old record for the same name.
- Give DNS a few minutes, then check again.
Private apps on a custom domain
Sharing rules still apply: signing in works on the custom domain, so a private app stays private.
Questions
Do I need to buy a domain first?
Yes, from any registrar. Your apps also work on a Cohostly address without one.
Do I get HTTPS?
Yes, a certificate is issued automatically once the DNS record is found.
Can I use the root domain?
A subdomain is the simplest. Check the domain page in your app for what your provider supports.
