How to host a Lovable app somewhere else
Move a Lovable app to your own host: connect its GitHub repo, keep the backend keys as secrets, set a custom domain and share it with named people.
Debraj
Lovable can publish what it builds. People move their apps when they want their own address, per-person sharing, or one place for everything they have built.
Get the code out
- Connect the Lovable project to a GitHub repository from its settings.
- Check the repo builds on your machine with npm install and npm run build.
- List every environment variable the project reads, especially the backend URL and keys.
Deploy it
- Upload the folder, a .zip or a GitHub repo, or ask your assistant to deploy it over MCP. Cohostly shows draft settings first, and nothing goes live until you confirm.
- Review the build and start commands in the draft settings.
- Add the backend keys as secrets, not in the code.
- Open the link and test sign-in, because auth redirect addresses usually need updating.
What usually breaks after a move
- The backend service rejects the new address until you add it to its allowed list (CORS and redirect settings).
- A missing environment variable.
- A hard-coded address that still points at the old site.
Remember
Front-end code is public, so no secret belongs in it. Anything private must be read on a server or through a connection.
Questions
Can I host a Lovable app outside Lovable?
Yes. Sync it to a GitHub repository and deploy from there.
Will my Supabase backend still work?
Usually yes. Keep its keys as secrets and add your new address to its allowed origins.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. Add the domain to the app and create one DNS record.
