How to host a v0 app outside Vercel
v0 builds Next.js apps. Here is how to export one, run it on another host, keep keys safe and share it with only the people who should see it.
Debraj
v0 generates React and Next.js code, and the code is yours. Anywhere that can run Node can run it.
Export it
- Push the project to GitHub or download the code.
- Run npm install and npm run build locally to confirm it builds.
- List environment variables the project reads.
Deploy
- Upload the folder, a .zip or a GitHub repo, or ask your assistant to deploy it over MCP. Cohostly shows draft settings first, and nothing goes live until you confirm.
- Use npm run build as the build command and npm start as the start command.
- Add keys as secrets.
- Choose who can open it.
Things that differ from a Vercel deploy
- Vercel-specific features (edge config, platform storage) need an alternative.
- Image optimisation and caching settings may behave differently.
- Environment variables must be re-entered.
Questions
Do I have to use Vercel for v0?
No. The code is standard Next.js and runs on any host with Node.
Will it work on Cohostly?
Yes, as a normal Node server with a build and start command.
Can I share it only with my team?
Yes, share by email or with your organisation.
